Just rego'd. Is the list of hotels available yet?

The hotel list is not available yet. We are waiting for the contact at two critical hotels to get us our contract; the contact was unexpectedly out. Once the contract for the two hotels is reviewed and signed hotel information will be available. An email will be sent to all registered users; asuming we have your correct email address and posted online under the lodging section.

You will see a listing of hotels, map showing proximity of each, a brief description, link to their websites and applicable contact info to make a reservation.

UPDATE: Hotel info still not available, contact made with additional hotel property and we are progressing on additional contracts. While nearly 800 hashers are registered, SHG is blocking rooms for up to 1,500 assuming rooms will average no less than 2 per room and a max of 4 per room. Translation more hotel rooms needed than any other IAH.

Stay tuned.... When available an email will be sent to registered users and info posted online.

UPDATE: The LAST hotel contracts were signed TODAY! The hotel company must now set up a deposit escrow account and all will be officially finalized. The IAH 2011 lodging coordinator is now working with the various hotels on the announcement and content for the website.

We are hoping to have the official announcement in the next few (3-4) weeks. The official announcement includes an email to all PAID in full registrations, all pledges (even is part of your payment is still pending/outstanding) and information online in the lodging section of this site - we will hold off on making the content page URL publicaly accessible to ensure the email recipients receive a heads up.

Yes, this took longer than anticipated but it was worth it or so we like to tell ourselves.

Whereas in past IAH's the event has been held at a resort so there was only a single entity to deal with, we are negotiating with several hotels located right next to each other. This allows us to provide you a prime location in the heart of the historic district, a variety of rates and rooms, but that also means that there is a different set of management and rules to work with at each hotel.

As the event is more than a year out, we are having to make special arrangements to take reservations this early on (most of the reservations systems won't handle it). Each hotel is wanting early reservations to work a little bit differently. We are working with them on making this seamless and simple.

In addition, we have picked up some more rooms at one of our primary hotels over the last week. We are needing to get that in writing and signed. As all our hotels are awesome, but vary in cost, we will be releasing all the primary hotels at the same time so that everyone gets the full set of options to pick from.

Once all the information is finalized our website will have one page that directs you on your options, prices, general description and how to book each hotel. The page will only be available to hashers already registered and paid. We will email all registered hashers a private link on this site. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR REGISTRATION EMAIL ADDRESS IS CORRECT! That is the email address the message will be going to.

Worry not it's coming! In the mean time, go have a beer!
