Savannah Amtrak station

The train station is out in the boonies and without special arrangements for transportation you'll be out in the middle of no where for a while. The train only comes in and out of town once a day each way and is normally around 11PM or 1AM. It's a little unreliable. So I would suggest if people are planning on taking the train we have a definite way of knowing when groups of people would be coming in a do a group pick up.

I've checked the Amtrak Silver Meteor (train 97) schedule and the train is listed as having a 6:44am arrival in Savannah.

Might there be interest in a "hash train"? Not sure what day, but the train leaves NYC at 3:15pm and stops in Newark, Trenton, Philly, Wilmington, Baltimore, DC (departs 7:30pm - my town), Richmond, Petersburg, Rocky Mount (midnight), the home of the TRASH (Fayetteville -1:34am), and a bunch of stops in SC during the early morning hours. Sounds like the perfect pre-lube to me. I thought I would gauge interest here.

Speaking from my personal experience of taking the train from ATL to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras hash I think a hash pre lube on the train would be GREAT! The ride from ATL to NO is about 12 hours and is a "day" trip, and we get sleeper cars and plenty of beer is consumed and there is usually a lingere (sp?) show - VERY FUN and drunken!

Two hashers from ATL (Dr. Doo Doo and Foreign Lesion) might be able to offer advice for planning as they have organized the Hash train I reference many times. If a train went from ATL to SAV I bet there would be a hash train!

Be very flexible if you take the Silver Meteor train...I have taken this train over 20x.....it has never been on time...my personal experience is based on trips to Miami, Orlando, Jax, SAv, Chas, Trash, Raleigh, and all points in between...the average time delay has been around 4 hours....the worst was 16 hours...It was, however, a blast, especially if you go with a group....just be aware that you will probably be late arriving, and will leave even later.....we will be happy to assist you in anyway possible though...just dont expect us to pick you all up at 4 AM!
